Meet Anna
My name is Anna Webster and I am currently a dual language kindergarten teacher for Chapel Hill Carrboro City schools. I have six years of experience teaching in public schools in the Triangle, where I was born and raised. I also have experience teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) for ages 5-12.
My career passion has always been early literacy and I have sought out many professional developments and training in reading and phonics instruction. I am trained in Wilson Fundations, Letterland, Amplify, American Reading Company, and LETRs (a 2 year comprehensive literacy and language professional development focused on the Science of Reading). I also have a deep passion for working with students who are learning English as a second language. As a dual language teacher, it is my job to make the curriculum accessible to all students by adding visuals, TPR (total physical response), and having consistent and engaging routines. I have found that these strategies are also extremely effective with English speaking students, especially those struggling with reading.
I grew up figure skating and attended Miami University as a student athlete. I graduated from Miami with my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and my teaching licence for grades K-6. In 2020, I earned an additional license for ESL and in 2023, I earned my National Boards Certification for teaching Elementary Reading.
I believe that a strong foundation in literacy is achievable for all students and I love finding creative ways to make reading fun. I look forward to working with you and your child!
