Mary Beth’s Expertise
Mary Beth Hes has been immersed in the field of education since 2007. Her undergraduate studies were in elementary education at Duke University. She holds a graduate level degree in educational psychology with a specialization in gifted education from the University of Virginia. She has 15 years of classroom teaching experience and has been providing individualized academic support in the private sector since 2020. As an experienced classroom teacher, academic coach, and student support team member, she knows from personal experience which evidenced-based, data-driven strategies are most effective for supporting students and families.
Mary Beth has extensive experience problem solving educational challenges and mediating conversations between teachers, parents, and administrators. Using her expertise, she works in collaboration with families and schools to shape a unique plan for each child. The outcome of these conversations is a team that moves forward confidently with an effective research-based plan.
Mary Beth participated in special education advocacy training with Wrightslaw, a firm specialized in special education law.
Consulting Rates
As a benefit of enrolling in Engaged Minds tutoring, Mary Beth Hes offers a reduced rate for educational consulting services. The pricing is as follows.
$200 per hour for families enrolled in Engaged Minds tutoring
$250 per hour for new families
No price negotiations are offered.
If the nature of consultation if related to school selection, you will be required to select a school selection package, rather than be billed at the hourly consulting rate.
